Did Fiona manage to fix her life?

On Shameless Season 9 Episode 9, the eldest Gallagher sibling was at rock bottom, and a surprise visit from Ford did not help matters.

Meanwhile, Lip grew closer to Tammy, but he quickly regretted giving her the time of day when he realized she was sleeping with her ex.

Also, Kelly finally realized that she needed to stand up to her father if she wanted to be happy.

It was Showtime's turn at the Television Critics Association winter press tour today, and there were renewals, revivals, and delays.

Let's get the big renewal our of the way:

Shameless has been renewed for Season 10, and there's a catch that fans will surely be happy about.

Cameron Monaghan is returning for the milestone season as Ian Gallagher.

Saving the Family - Shameless Season 9 Episode 8

Yes, really!

Fans were up in arms about the character's departure during Shameless Season 9, but given that he got a somewhat happy ending behind bars, this could mean that things are about to go back downhill for him.

Time will tell.

Monaghan joins William H. Macy (aka Frank), Jeremy Allen White (Lip), Ethan Cutkosky (Carl), Emma Kenney (Debbie) and Christian Isaiah (Liam).

Emmy Rossum will not be part of the new season following her decision to leave, and her final episode is slated to air in the coming weeks.

“All of us on Shameless are delighted that we get to tell more wonderful Gallagher stories — and thankful to Showtime for their continued support,” executive producer John Wells said in a statement.

“We can’t wait to get back to work with this extraordinary cast.”

The Depths of Despair - Shameless Season 9 Episode 9

An episode order has not been revealed, but it is expected to be another 14-part season that will be split down the middle.

Meanwhile, the long-gestating revival of The L Word got a formal green light and has scored an eight-episode order.

Original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey will be back in their original roles in the new episodes, which will find the characters co-existing alongside “a new generation of self-possessed LGBTQIA characters experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in Los Angeles.”

“Marja has brought her unique and contemporary vision to The L Word and blended it beautifully into the fabric of Ilene’s groundbreaking series,” said Gary Levine, president of entertainment at Showtime.

“This revered show was both entertaining and impactful when it originally ran on Showtime, and we are confident that our new version will do that and more in 2019.”

The other big news involved Homeland which was supposed to return this summer.

However, the final season has now been pushed back to the fall.

“We previously announced a June premiere but because of [international] production demands… we’re moving the final season premiere back to the fall,” Levine told reporters.

Fiona's life as she knows it is over.

Shameless Season 9 Episode 10 started with my favorite Gallagher realizing the error of her ways, striving for change, but in a much worse position by the final scene.

Fiona Makes a Change - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

Let's start with that dark opening scene. It was dumb of Fiona to leave the money out while the cafe was still open. There's no getting away from that.

I thought the money would be gone when she returned, but that would have been too predictable. The three men were menacing, and there's no telling what they would have done if the other staff member did not show up to save the day.

The truth is, Fiona's been getting so drunk that she no longer knows fact from fiction. That scenario at Patsy's gave her the nudge in the right direction she needed.

Welcome to the South Side, bitch.

Fiona

She was finally taking accountability for her actions. It gave me hope that Fiona was getting a happy ending what with Emmy Rossum's departure looming.

Margo was right to fire her. She's gotten erratic. She's gotten drunk on the job; she's been ridiculing customers, yelling at staff members, and even accusing people of sexual misconduct.

The Depths of Despair - Shameless Season 9 Episode 9

It's surprising that it took Margo a month of complaints to make a decision. Then again, the business guru knows Fiona has helped the diner turn in a profit like never before.

Margo may not have picked up the phone, but that's probably because she was giving Fiona time to get it together. It's just a shame that Fiona took too long to sort herself out.

Fiona: I've had a rough few months, but I've turned a corner.
Margo: People who say they've turned a corner, they haven't turned a corner.

Throwing the vodka out was a great start. I thought for sure Frank would have been able to sniff that all the way from the Hobo Loco Hunger Games.

Fiona rallying up the entire South Side to go to the new neighbor's door was the moment I realized there's no hope for Fiona, and she's going to find herself back in prison.

If Fiona felt so strongly that the woman called the cops on Liam because of his skin color, then she should have had a chat with the woman to find out what the real issue was.

Fiona's Spiral - Shameless Season 9 Episode 8

Bringing an army to the woman's door, jumping over her fence and punching the woman so hard that she fell to the ground was not the right way to go about things.

Waitress: Yo, wakey wakey.
Fiona: Get the fuck away from me.

There's no rooting for Fiona anymore. It hurts me to write that because she's my favorite character, but she's several zip codes away from the line she crossed back on Shameless Season 4 which almost resulted in Liam's death.

I don't doubt for one minute that Fiona would rough someone up if they mess with her family, but that punch was built on the rage she was holding inside after being fired.

Knowing that Fiona is reverting to her old ways, if the woman presses charges and this goes to trial, Fiona could be headed to jail. That would be a terrible goodbye for such a great character.

Shameless has an issue saying goodbye to its characters, so prison seems to be the place they're sent to in case the actors change course and decide to come back (I'm looking at you, Cameron Monaghan).

Fiona Votes for Ruiz - Shameless Season 9 Episode 4

Hopefully, the powers that be craft a more meaningful conclusion for Fiona than being locked up. This journey we've traveled with her would be a waste if it ended with prison.

Related: Showtime at TCA: Shameless Renewed, The L Word Revived & More!

As for the Hobo Loco Hunger Games, I didn't find them funny. The series loves to poke fun at poverty-stricken families, but there has got to be laws against exploiting them in such a manner.

Hobo Loco put profit over ethics, and I couldn't shake that during all of the scenes with Frank fighting to the death to keep himself in the competition.

Frank: That's the way we're going to play this thing?
Mickey: All's fair in love and hobo wars.

The only semi-enjoyable part of it all was Mickey wanting to join forces with Frank to share the winnings. In hindsight, Frank should have accepted that offer.

Ingrid was at home while all this was playing out, and I couldn't help but laugh as she tried to dole out therapy over the phone while Fiona was poking fun at her.

Gallagher Problems - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

Fiona was right. It was bizarre to have someone who was not of sound mind doling out therapy over the phone -- in the Gallagher house no less.

With Katey Sagal signed to appear on an ABC pilot, it sounds like her character is not sticking around, so it wouldn't surprise me if she decides to move back in with her ex-husband and have the children with him.

They're looking for someone with no purpose in life. I've finally found my calling.

Frank

Ingrid desperately wanted to believe that Frank was the man for her, but she's slowly starting to realize that he's only a short-term lover who will fleece her for every dollar she has.

Frank's Plan - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

I'm just waiting for the scene in which it all comes out that Carl is the father to the children. That will likely be something Frank screams when Ingrid inevitably packs up shop to leave him behind.

Then there's Tami. I wanted to hate her because of the way she ridiculed Lip. She was so self-absorbed initially that it seemed there was no personality there.

Related: Shameless Shocker: Emmy Rossum Leaving After Nine Seasons!

These past few episodes have shed light on her in a big way, and I'm now at the point that I want the character to have a more significant presence on the show.

The way she acted with Xan took Lip by surprise. It would have been perfectly natural for her to run off and leave Lip to deal with the kid.

Tami Helps Lip - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

Instead, Tami couldn't have been more motherly. I thought Xan was gone, but it seems like her mother has run off once and for all, and I'm so here for Lip and Tami looking out for this kid.

"Los Diablos!" felt like the Shameless we know and love. It's slowly getting back to the creative footing it was on a few years ago.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • Debbie is poised to pull a robbery on Carl after Kelly complimented her ass. That's going to cause a lot of drama, but it's also going to be a fun storyline.
  • Santiago is gone already! While I'm happy he's reuniting with his family, the storyline would have worked better as an arc that lasted more than a handful of episodes.
  • Carl's new job was brutal. He needs to find something that won't end with him getting assaulted.

What did you think of the episode? Is Fiona gearing up for a stint behind bars?

Did Fiona get fired?

On Shameless Season 9 Episode 10, Margo arrived in town after learning the eldest Gallagher's behavior was scaring away customers.

With nowhere to hide, Fiona was forced to face up to the fact that she was messing up her life.

Did the meeting with Margo give Fiona the perspective she needed to fix things before it was too late?

Meanwhile, Xan showed back up in Lip's life, throwing him for a loop.

Tami Helps Lip - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

Tami stepped up to make sure nothing happened to the kid while she was out of Lip's care.

Did she learn the truth?

Elsewhere, Frank competed in a competition to be crowned the best homeless person on the South Side.

Did he win?

Shameless Season 9 Episode 11 Review: The Hobo Games

Oh, baby.

Shameless Season 9 Episode 11 delivered some shocking twists, but the biggest was that Tammi was expecting Lip's child.

Given that Tammi has been vocal that the women in her family have died at a young age of cancer, I figured that we were going to travel that route with her.

Lip Gets a Shock - Shameless Season 9 Episode 11

Flaking on Lip, ignoring his calls and acting like nothing was wrong added fuel to the fire, but I'm happy she and Lip are having a baby.

If you watch Shameless online, you know that Lip has felt there's been something missing in his life for some time now.

The only semblance of happiness he had recently was taking Xan under his wing and providing a home for her.

He adapted when her mother returned and took her from him. Having Xan back in his life brought it all back that he wants a family of his own.

Frank: I am the hobo loco mofo.
Mickey: Okay.

That's why he went the adoption route. He learned the hard way that having no parental rights was an issue when Xan was in the hospital early on Shameless Season 9

His passion for becoming a parent was fascinating to watch when he started the process of legally becoming Xan's guardian.

The odds were against him from the get-go, and I appreciate the producers for traveling this path with Lip.

CPS showing up for the surprise visit was predictable, but I loved how it all played out.

It helped highlight the change in dynamics inside the Gallagher home.

Fiona's Mistake - Shameless Season 9 Episode 11

Debbie and Kelly may have been looking after the children, but it looked terrible that there was a hole in the floor of the living room and no adult around.

There's no excuse for that. Anyone of those kids could have fallen through and found themselves with a nasty injury ... or worse.

Vasectomies. I googled it! It's an incision into my ball bag.

Kev

Fiona being a mess was just another of the many issues with the scenario. I liked how she realized what was going on and tried to change the inspector's train of thought.

Her instincts to try and fix things kicked in, and it was about time. However, I hated that Fiona went to Lip's place of work with vodka in her bag.

Even though Fiona had no idea the man Lip was trying to keep on the straight and narrow once had an alcohol and drug addiction, that wasn't the time or place to be doling out the vodka.

On the one hand, I agree with Fiona that it wasn't her fault, but on the other, Lip had a point that Fiona's just too far gone at this stage.

Fiona Makes a Change - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

There's no helping her at this stage, but I do take issue with Lip telling Fiona he wanted her out of the house.

Related: Shameless Renewed for Season 10

Her siblings can make her feel unwelcome all they want, but Fiona's name is on the house. That's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Carl and Debbie were shocked at Lip's outburst. It was the moment they realized how far Fiona has fallen since being the most successful and mature sibling.

The opening scene with Fiona stealing someone else's drugs was particularly telling. It's good to know she's not taking them, but selling them is something that will come back to haunt her.

That bitch stole my oxy.

Woman

With her knack for breaking the law of late, it still seems like the only logical exit for the character will be a stint behind bars. I've already stated my distaste for that direction, but where else can she possibly go?

Her credit is screwed, she's broke, and isn't in a position to be working. Unless a face from her past returns to whisk her off her feet, she's screwed.

The Choice - Shameless Season 9 Episode 11

The Hobo Games was not a fun arc. It was terrible, but it was an excellent satire of how far companies are willing to go to get the right people as brand ambassadors.

The addition of Mickey to this storyline made it a bit better, and I did want them both to share the money. They worked well together, but aside from that, the plot was a convoluted way to say goodbye to Ingrid.

Katey Sagal has turned in a convincing performance as Ingrid. I'm sad to see Ingrid leave, but she's doing the best thing for her unborn children.

Related: Shameless Season 9 Episode 10 Review: Los Diablos!

Frank will never be the father she wants him to be. All it took for her to learn that was to live with his other children he played no part in raising to realize that.

Gallagher Problems - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

But Frank understood her on a level she didn't think anybody ever could, and that's why they had a connection. Frank cared more about winning the competition than his girlfriend's feelings.

He used the unborn children as a reason for doing the competition in the first place. In reality, he wanted the free alcohol and more money for booze.

That's just Frank, and he's never going to change.

"The Hobo Games" was a mixed bag. Some parts were great, but others dragged.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • Debbie has the hots for Kelly. It's a random plot, for sure, and Carl should probably get Kelly well away from the house.
  • The C plot involving Kev and V wasn't remotely interesting. There are a lot better things these two awesome characters could be doing. Writers, take note!
  • Mickey and Frank lying they were homosexual war veterans was a low blow.

Admitting you need help is the first step to recovery.

Shameless Season 9 Episode 12 found Fiona hitting rock bottom, and it was about time.

After becoming a successful businesswoman, and someone who stood to make a lot of money from her own apartment building, managing Patsy's and investing, Fiona lost it all.

Turn Up the Beat - Shameless Season 9 Episode 12

It was cruel to take everything from Fiona, especially when you consider the fact that she's raised her siblings, worked several jobs to keep them above the breadline.

She aspired to beat the odds and make something of herself.  She was well on that track, but the going got tough, and she turned to alcohol to self-medicate.

People fall down and need some assistance, and I'm starting to understand why the powers that be chose this arc for Emmy Rossum's final episodes.

Related: Enjoy UNLIMITED access to thousands of Movies and TV shows with Amazon Prime Video. WATCH ANYWHERE. CANCEL ANYTIME!

Anyone can fall down, and while I still think Fiona deserved better, this is going to be a meaningful farewell to a character who has been at the center of the show since it premiered back in 2011.

Frank: If you need a little walking around money, you should hang with me today.
Fiona: Why would I do that?
Frank: Where there's panic, there's money to be made.

The most awkward thing about her continued fall was that Frank was the one who told her her actions were not right and that she's drinking for all the wrong reasons.

Who would have thought that Frank of all people would be that type of dad? Hell, he even admitted to Lip that Fiona was the one who raised him and his siblings.

Keeping the Peace - Shameless Season 9 Episode 12

That's not usual for Frank. He could see his daughter was traveling a dark path, and in all honesty, it made me like Frank again.

Related: Shameless Renewed for Season 10

Having Fiona and Frank working together made for some comical scenes, but it also made me realize that this is likely the only time they'll ever work together given Rossum's looming departure.

As for Lip throwing Fiona's belongings out of the house, that was low, but he's met lots of people who have been alcoholics and knows the triggers to get help. His rage seemed fueled by what happened with Xan and the man he was sponsoring.

In reality, he wanted to push his sister to the point she knew she needed to get help. I'm glad he made V realize that or else Fiona would not have sought help in the final moments of the episode.

Fiona Makes a Change - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

Waking up in the rundown version of the building that was once hers was a powerful scene. Walking into the AA meeting and Lip already being there was beautiful. It helped Lip realize his sister was actually trying to better her life, and now that he knows she's serious he's going to help her out.

The more likely scenario that leads to Fiona's exit is that she gets a job well away from the city with the aim of making a clean break.

At least, that's what I'm hoping. It would be crappy if she were killed off, but something tells me the powers that be want the character alive in the event Rossum opts to make a return.

As for Lip, I loved his struggle with what was happening with Xan and the prospect of becoming a father.

Debating What to Do - Shameless Season 9 Episode 12

Tammi has been running hot and cold for a while now. If you watch Shameless online, you know that the hairdresser has worried that she's going to die at a young age.

Knowing you're bringing a life into the world, but not knowing whether you're going to be around to care for it is not easy to grapple with.

Carl: Oh.
Tammi: What do you mean oh? Shut up.

I hated Tammi when she first appeared on the show. She was overconfident, rude, and wanted all eyes on her. But now that the layers are being pulled back on the character, she has the potential to be one of the show's best.

Tammi's biggest concern with bringing a child into the world is that it could wind up with no parents. She lives life without taking many risks.

Tami Helps Lip - Shameless Season 9 Episode 10

Her and Lip would be amazing parents, but it's whether they can agree that they will co-parent if their relationship goes south that is the hurdle.

Related: Shameless Shocker: Emmy Rossum Leaving!

As for the surf and turf cookout, it was the best course of action. All of that meat had to be used before it was spoiled by the lack of refrigeration.

It made for an event that brought the south side together, and all of the interactions during the party were great. The main issue with Shameless of late is that most of the characters go off and do their own thing, and we don't get to see them checking in with the characters they get along with the most.

The plot I hated was the love triangle (if we can call it that!) between Carl, Debbie, and Kelly. It's been one of the show's most tedious arcs for sure, and I have to side with Carl in the whole fiasco.

There's a line, and Debbie crossed it on multiple occasions. Kelly taking out her frustrations on Carl was not warranted. She should have been able to see what Debbie was doing and to let her down gently.

Saving the Family - Shameless Season 9 Episode 8

It makes me think that Kelly was looking for a reason to let Carl down, and that's why she allowed Debbie to get closer to her.

With Kelly out of the equation, I hope the two siblings can put this chapter behind them.

"You'll Know the Bottom When You Hit It" was a solid episode of Shameless. Despite some questionable plot choices, it feels like the show is getting back to the one we know and love.

Shameless Season 9 Episode 13 Review: Lost

Just like that, Emmy Rossum's departure from Shameless has been set up.

Shameless Season 9 Episode 13 was a transitional hour that set Fiona on a new path, and I loved every single minute of it.

Fiona Attends a Meeting - Shameless Season 9 Episode 13

I'm thrilled that Fiona finally decided to take accountability for her actions, and wants to prove that she can still be happy despite losing everything.

I did roll my eyes when she visited her lawyer, and it became possible that she could get hauled back to jail. However, she's showing that she's ready to move on with her life and leaving alcohol behind.

Fiona: I don't really know what I'm supposed to do now.
Lip: The only thing you can do, you get back up, you start over.
Fiona: It's that easy, huh?
Lip: No.

Fiona Looks On - Shameless Season 9 Episode 13

The best part about this storyline is that Lip is essentially taking on the role of Fiona's sponsor. Who would have thought that he would ever be able to guide his sister?

They've been so at odds with each other throughout the back half of Shameless Season 9 that it seemed like they would never get back to this place.

Making amends is part of the game for someone recovering from an addiction, and Lip knows that all too well.

Taking the job in the gas station was a different role for the woman who went from being a landlady and restaurant manager to serving customers in a sketchy part of the South Side.

Back to the Grind - Shameless Season 9 Episode 13

The chance meeting with her business partner changed everything.

I felt for Fiona in that scene because she probably felt little in that scene. She wanted the ground to swallow her up because of how far she had fallen.

I admire Fiona's resilience by admitting that it was her new job and not caring what the man thought of it.

The revelation that the building deal was taking off and that he wanted to buy her share out took me by surprise. Fiona was worried about the prospect of never being in a comfortable position financially again.

This money should help her pay her debts and move to somewhere new to start a new life.

She's gotten through it all over the past nine seasons, so it makes sense that she would want to switch things up.

Leaving her family behind will be a hard thing to do.

They stick together through thick and thin, and I'm not sure what the Gallaghers would like without Fiona. In a sense, she's raised them to be the people they are today.

They will miss her because she's always there to dole out the advice or bails them out, but we need to remember here that Fiona gave up her life when she raised them, so it's time for her to move on and start her individual journey.

Shameless Season 9 Episode 12 Review: You'll Know the Bottom When You Hit It

The only thing I'm mad about is that it's looking likely Ian will not be part of the exit story. I would love for them to have one last scene together. It would make everything full circle.

We know that Cameron Monaghan is returning for Shameless Season 10 as a series regular, so it's possible that a scene was filmed between him and Rossum.

Debating What to Do - Shameless Season 9 Episode 12

As for Lip, I'm as confused as him concerning the way Tammi is acting. Does she want to keep the baby or not? It was bizarre that Tammi's father showed up because surely he would have had to go through Brad to get Lip's home address.

Brad would have fought in Lip's corner because he knows Lip is a changed man who wants to remain on the straight and narrow.

Lip had no idea what Tammi was going to do, and she's giving him very little in the way of answers to it. One minute she's the nicest girl, he could ever meet, but the next she's shouting that she doesn't need a man from the rooftops.

She's a strong young woman; there's no questioning that, but the way she's treating Lip is not okay. He's supported her from the get-go while she's battling her own emotions.

I respect that she wanted to know the truth about whether she carried the BRCA gene, and if so, which version of it. In her mind, she's unsure whether she can plan a future with Lip and a child if she doesn't know whether she's going to die of cancer.

Lip Gets a Shock - Shameless Season 9 Episode 11

It's a horrible situation and one that I hope she gets a good outcome. I was happy that Lip flipped out to let her know that he's passionate about this and that he doesn't deserve to be treated in an ill manner.

I'm hoping the couple gets good news on Shameless Season 9 Episode 14, but with another season of drama on the horizon, I'm not sure that will be the case.

Frank being injured was no surprise. When you're sleeping in a building that's about to be demolished, that's kind of what happens.

Related: Shameless Renewed for Season 10

What I was most surprised about was that he was not thinking about who he could sue to make some money. Instead, all he cared about was getting to the hospital for some drugs.

The moment he realized the severity of the injury, it was obvious that he wanted drugs and lots of them. I laughed at the sheer prospect of Fiona caring enough to go along with him in the ambulance.

Frank Returns Home - Shameless Season 9 Episode 13

Their relationship has been fraught since the beginning of the series, but she Fiona didn't want her father to die.

"Lost" was a solid hour of this Showtime hit. The wheels are in motion for what is sure to be a rock-solid season finale.

  • Kev dressing as Jesus and carrying the cross has got to be one of the most comical scenes of the entire series.
  • Debbie going after Kelly was a horrible move, but it was moving that Carl managed to put their differences aside to let her know she was loved.
  • The robbery in the fast food joint could have gone very badly, but nobody messes with a Gallagher and gets away with it.

Things get in the way, she falls off the rails, and when she falls, she falls hard. Having the $100k gave her a once in a lifetime opportunity, and she needed to utilize it in the best way she could.

"Found" chronicled Fiona's sudden realization that her family has grown up to the point that they don't rely on her as much as they once did.

For all of her life up to this point, she's had to go through the motions of looking after her siblings, providing for them, and even sacrificing some of the things she wants to do.

For the first time in a long time, Fiona was in control of her own life, and it was beautiful that she opted to use the money to start a new life elsewhere.

The acting from Rossum and William H. Macy during their final scene together was their best to date. Frank knew he had one chance to say goodbye to his daughter, but he's one of the most stubborn people around.

He understood that there would be a Fiona shaped hole in the family dynamic with her gone, but he didn't want to admit that she legitimately raised all of his children. That would have been far too damaging to his ego.

Fiona's Last Stand - Shameless Season 9 Episode 14

The scene was needed because it gave Fiona more drive to move on with her life. While I felt sad that we never got to see her say goodbye to everyone, Fiona made a valid point that she didn't trust herself to follow through with it the longer she stuck around.

Fiona: I feel like I got a second chance.
V: So, what now?

Leaving $50k for Debbie was predictable because Fiona wanted to make sure there was money aside in the event disaster strikes and she's not around to help out.

Debbie has taken over the family finances and is as frugal as she needs to be to help the family survive when the going gets tough. Giving her the money was the best course of action.

Debbie thought Fiona leaving before her party meant that she hated her, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Now that Debbie has the money, it will be fun to see what she plans to do with it.

Debbie's Dilemma - Shameless Season 9 Episode 14

Fiona's chat with Ian about the future brought everything full circle for her in my eyes. She's always had a strong bond with Ian, so it was great that Cameron Monaghan returned for the season finale.

His advice was perfect. Fiona had a real shot at making a change, and she needed to get out of the city and possibly the country to somewhere where there are better jobs, and a better standard of living.

Fiona stopping by the prison also allowed us to get some insight into what Ian and Mickey's life is like together on the inside, and that was needed.

Many people thought that the perfect exit for Fiona would have been for Jimmy/Steve to make a last-minute comeback, sweep her off her feet and for her to run off with him.

A $100k Decision - Shameless Season 9 Episode 14

While I can see the benefits of wrapping things up in a neat little bow for Fiona, I'm glad she left alone. Every single time there's been a man involved, things get messed up.

She has no luck in relationships, and I appreciate that she wants to remain single, travel the world, and make a fresh start. We know she won't be buying another building, and that's a good thing.

Lip: Any ideas?
Fiona: We can't like drug him and dump him under a bridge.
Carl: Why not?

The best part of this is that Rossum can pop back up as Fiona down the line if she wants to, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Rossum is one of the best actresses on TV, and she has a bright future ahead of her.

Shameless is heading into uncharted territory with Season 10, and it's going to be exciting to see whether a new female lead will join the cast, or if we will follow the other characters.

I wouldn't mind Kelly and Tammi sticking around in more permanent roles. It's difficult to join a show late in its run and strike a chord with viewers, but both characters bring a lot to the table.

I'm happy Kelly finally told Carl how much she loves him. Carl was spiraling out of control and thinking that his life got ruined and that he was destined to work in fast food for the rest of eternity.

Reunited - Shameless Season 9 Episode 14

We witnessed a vulnerability in Carl that we've never seen before. He was hurting. He felt worthless and that he should allow others to make decisions for him.

He didn't do all of that training for West Point to give up on his dream. There are still other directions he can take his life in, but he needs to learn to spell.

I can't be the only one who laughed a little too much at what he wrote on Kelly's car.

As for Tammi, she needs to decide what she wants out of life. If her primary concern is her child being parentless, then she needs to start the process of giving her baby up for adoption.

Related: Shameless Season 9 Episode 13 Review: Lost

I don't doubt for one minute that Lip could be a great father, but with Tammi, there's no telling what she's going to do next.

At one point, I thought she was going to crash her car and meet a fiery end. She's very unpredictable.

Liam slamming the door on Debbie's face after moving out was a comical moment. The youngster was worried that his family was not telling him enough about black history.

Saving the Family - Shameless Season 9 Episode 8

In his defense, the family took a couple of days even to notice that he was gone the first time. His frustration is warranted, and I hope Debbie makes changes so that her brother feels included.

"Found" would have worked as a series finale. The characters all hit milestones, and we're left to ponder just how some of them will mess things up during the break.

Shameless is one of my favorite TV shows and has been since it debuted, but I'm worried at about how things will play out down the line. The quality has been all over the shop, and that's typical for shows that have been on the air for nine years.

For many fans, Fiona was the glue that kept the family together. With her gone, the powers that be are going to need to need to craft intriguing storylines to keep fans tuning in.

On Shameless Season 9 Episode 14, the eldest Gallagher made her decision to skip town and start a new life somewhere else.

Her siblings were less than impressed by the idea of her leaving them behind.

Elsewhere, Kev and V realized they could find some new ways to make money with one of them dressed as Jesus.

Gallavich shippers, we have some good news!

Noel Fisher is returning to Shameless and will be back as a series regular for Shameless Season 10.

The rumor mill kicked into high gear on Thursday when it appeared that the show's official Twitter page had been hacked by fans who wanted Fisher back on the show full-time.

The people running the Twitter page added fuel to the fire by retweeting fans who wondered whether the page had been hacked.

It was a great PR stunt and one that got "BringBackMickey" trending in the United States. The news was confirmed when a video was uploaded to the page that appeared to show Mickey orchestrating his great escape from prison.

Shameless Season 9 seemingly gave Ian and Mickey their own version of a happy ending:

They were behind bars, but they were very much together. That was supposed to serve as Cameron Monaghan's swansong on the Showtime hit.

However, the actor changed his focus months later and decided to return for the tenth season. Many wondered whether this meant that Ian and Mickey were going to be driven apart, once again.

Now, fans need not worry because it seems the pair will be free when the series returns. It will be interesting what kind of storyline bring the pair back to the South Side.

Ian at Work - Shameless Season 8 Episode 10

Monaghan took to Twitter shortly after the news broke, welcoming his co-star back to the show.

"Glad we could finally say it: Welcome back to #Shameless, @noel_fisher. Missed you, my friend," he tweeted.

23 Seemingly Unlikable Characters Who Won Our Hearts

You know what they say, don't judge a book by its cover.

Although a character may start out as rather obnoxious or annoying, sometimes their story just hasn't had a chance to be told.

There's always more than meets the eye, and watching a character develop can be one of the best parts of a series.

We created a slide show below of 23 seemingly unlikable characters who won our hearts!

1. Conrad Hawkins - The Resident

Conrad hawkins the resident
He may have seemed like an asshole at the beginning of the show, but Conrad is really the most loveable doctor in the world. All he does is care for others and save lives, and he looks good doing it.

2. John Murphy - The 100

John murphy the 100
Murphy was the worst in the first season of The 100. In fact, there were times we wanted him gone. But as the show went on, he became not only the comedic relief but a person who puts others over himself.

3. Ava Jalali - PLL: The Perfectionists

Ava jalali pll the perfectionists
She's not the privileged and carefree girl she first appeared to be when she was introduced in Alison's classroom. It turns out that Ava is a complex character who works hard to pave her own path in life. In fact, she's arguably the best character on The Perfectionists.

4. Klaus Hargreeves - The Umbrella Academy

Klaus hargreeves the umbrella academy
He may have seemed off at the beginning of the series, but Klaus had a good reason for the way he acted. He's the best part of The Umbrella Academy and he deserves all the love and happiness in the world.

5. Cheryl Blossom - Riverdale

Cheryl blossom riverdale
Cheryl was Riverdale's resident mean girl. And she kind of still is more or less. But Cheryl is also unique, fun, and her one-liners are absolutely hilarious. She has more depth than any of the other characters combined and she's the most interesting thing about the show.

6. Alex Karev - Grey's Anatomy

Alex karev greys anatomy
Alex was an asshole for seasons and there's no denying it. But after a lot of character development, he became an amazing doctor, a loving husband, and Meredith's best friend.

29 TV Characters Who Look Good in Orange

If there's anyone who can make an orange jumpsuit look good, it's TV characters.

At some point in a series, the main character does something that lands them behind bars.

Usually, it's split right down the middle with characters who are guilty and characters who have been framed but are, in fact, innocent.

Related: Get Showtime via Prime Video Channels for Award-Winning Original Series, Hit Movies, Sports & More!

The crimes that land our favorites in jail range from petty crimes to crimes that deserve a harsh punishment like theft, battery or even murder.

Here's a list of TV characters who have served time and look way too good in orange.

It's important to note that not all prisoners wear orange jumpsuits, but those brown jumpsuits don't make as much of a statement.

1. The Ladies of Litchfield - OITNB

The ladies of litchfield oitnb
The ladies of OITNB made the orange jumpsuit a whole 'lewk' when it debuted in 2013! Piper was thirty and thriving in New York City until her past caught up to her and she was forced to serve 15 months at Litchfield Penitentiary where she was reunited with her ex-girlfriend, Alex.

2. Rose aka Sin Rostro - Jane the Virgin

Rose aka sin rostro jane the virgin
Rose undoubtedly deserves to be in prison for all the pain she's caused the Villanueva women, Rafael, Michael, and even her ex-lover, Luisa. But being locked up hasn't stopped the mastermind from running her illegal plastic surgery operation to alter criminals' faces.

3. The Liars - Pretty Little Liars

The liars pretty little liars
The liars have done their fair share of questionable things, including murder, but it was all at the behest of A. They never deserved to be incarcerated for protecting themselves, but when they were, at least they were all together.

4. Jake and Rosa - Brooklyn 99

Jake and rosa brooklyn 99
Detectives Jake Peralta and Rosa Diaz were wrongly put behind bars for a crime they didn't commit after attempting to infiltrate a dirty squad led by Lt. Melanie Hawkins. As they assimilated to their new normal, their team looked for ways to bust them out.

5. Archie Andrews - Riverdale

Archie andrews riverdale
Archie has endured a lot of trauma at the hands of Hiram Lodge, but his stint in prison took the biggest toll on him. He was framed for the murder of Cassidy Bullock, marked by the Warden as the Red Palladin, and forced to fight in an underground prison fight club. Thankfully, his friends broke him free just before he broke.

6. Maya Pope - Scandal

Maya pope scandal
At the tender age of 16, Maya began selling government secrets and later, caused her husband to shoot down a plane of over 300 innocent people. It's no surprise she spent most of her life in prison with her own daughter believing she was dead.

13 Most Positive Portrayals of Transgender People on TV

Transgender characters often get a bad rap on TV.

In the past, they've been used as the butt of jokes or written cartoonishly, as if they're not real people. Trans women were often fetishized and trans men and non-binary people were non-existent.

Thankfully, that's changing now! There are a number of full-fledged transgender characters on TV. Sometimes they encounter bigotry or bullying, but other times they're dealing with the same issues as other people on the canvas of a given show.

Check out our top 13 transgender characters on TV! Then hit the comments and add your faves.

Not familiar with some of these characters? Watch TV online here on TV Fanatic so you can get to know them!

1. Cole - The Fosters

Cole the fosters
Cole was mainly featured in a group home for troubled teens and there was a silly storyline about him overdosing on testosterone. But his story on The Fosters highlighted some of the issues transgender people face. Notably, Cole was placed in a home for girls because his legal gender didn't match his gender identity and had issues with some of his housemates because of his identity. Nevertheless, it was refreshing to see a realistic transmasculine character on prime time!

2. Jasmine - Good Trouble

Jasmine good trouble
Good Trouble continues the groundbreaking representation of LGBT people that The Fosters was known for with, among others, the character of Jasmine, a trans woman who faces discrimination on a regular basis and who has a bogus charge on her record as a result of trying to defend herself from harassment. Jasmine is sympathetic, funny, and is treated seriously as a trans woman by the writers.

3. Sophia - Orange is the New Black

Sophia orange is the new black
No list would be complete without Sophia! Sure, Orange is the New Black is about women in prison, but in this show the prisoners are the heroes (some of the time, anyway), and Sophia is one of the most positive people on the show. Her character's presence allowed the show to explore transphobia both in and out of prison, and these negative experiences didn't wear her down. Instead, Sophia continued to be a friendly, kind character whose portrayer became known as a transgender activist and actress.

4. Nia - Supergirl

Nia supergirl
Nia is the first transgender superhero on television! Her coming out/origin story on Supergirl Season 4 Episode 11 was well received by fans and critics alike and was made doubly brilliant because of the conflict between her and her cisgender sister thanks to a prophecy about powers being passed from mother to daughter.

5. Frankie - Better Things

Frankie better things
Better Things Season 1 Episode 10 contained the revelation that Frankie wanted to use the boys' bathroom and might be transgender. Although this thread was not further explored, it showed the way transgender issues might naturally come up when raising kids.

6. Theo - Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Theo chilling adventures of sabrina
Riverdale spin-off Chilling Adventures of Sabrina features a recurring character who is transgender. Theo, born Susie, is a friend of Sabrina's. Theo doesn't fit neatly into any gender box and endures bullying and harassment at the hands of members of the football team as a result, but he doesn't let this dampen his adventurous, courageous spirit. In addition, Theo is more non-binary than many transgender characters on TV, demonstrating that there is a place for people who don't identify strictly as male or female in contemporary media.

29 TV Children Who Are Wiser Than Their Years

More than just a cute face or an emotional place-holder, television children often lead the way with straightforward wisdom and precocious problem-solving.

All too often, they've been forced to shoulder responsibilities far too early.

Sometimes, circumstances are just right for their talents to shine.

And then there are times when they really are the smartest person in the room.

So whether they're actually the Devil or just a little dickens, off-the-scales clever or an annoying know-it-all, these kids hold their own in strange and challenging circumstances.

1. Trixie Espinoza -- Lucifer

Trixie espinoza lucifer
In the beginning... there was Trixie. And it was Good. Better than good, Trixie's super-power is being able to connect with everyone. After all, her bestie is Mazikeen, head torture demon of Hell. Furthermore, there's a solid chance (at least in my mind) that she'll grow up to be a time-traveling Ella.

2. Ty Finn -- The Orville

Ty finn the orville
Ty is a musical prodigy but otherwise, he's a pretty typical, if inordinately adorable, space-traveling kid. It's kind of perfect that his piano instructor is Isaac, a Kaylon A.I. being. Besides being far more musically skilled than any human counterpart aboard The Orville, Isaac develops whatever passes for affection in a Kaylon for Ty and his mother and that ends up saving the Planetary Union when the Kaylons attack.

3. Diane Johnson -- black-ish

Diane johnson black ish
Diane's never been subtle about how smart she is but as she's entered adolescence, she's learned to hone to talents to further her own goals. What that looks like is the birth of a super-villain. Just ask Charlie how scary she can be.

4. Max Fuller -- Fuller House

Max fuller fuller house
Very much the middle child, "Mighty" Max adores his older brother but isn't above pulling Jackson's strings when circumstances give Max the upper-hand. Bright but insecure, he thrives in the bustling household, filled with lots of family and friends who have his back.

5. Gracie Sheffield -- The Nanny

Gracie sheffield the nanny
Written to be little more than the cute-enough-to-give-you-cavities Cindy Brady of the Sheffield clan, Gracie often advised Nanny Fran on personal dilemmas with a more worldly perspective than you'd expect.

6. Malcolm Wilkerson - Malcolm in the Middle

Malcolm wilkerson malcolm in the middle
Tapped for the gifted program at school when he just wants to survive adolescence unscathed by bullies, Malcolm was cursed with the spotlight by the bane of all kids seeking normalcy -- POTENTIAL.

Have you been wondering when your favorite Showtime series are returning to the air?

We have some news!

Showtime revealed Friday at the Television Critics' Association summer press tour that Shameless Season 10 will premiere Sunday, November 3 at 9/8c, Kidding Season 2 will launch the same night, airing two episodes a week at 10/9c.

Ian's Plight - Shameless Season 8 Episode 12

Ray Donovan will join in the fun two weeks later with its seventh season landing a November 17 premiere date.

More surprising, the dark drama series will be airing at the earlier time of 8/7c.

Debbie's Dilemma - Shameless Season 9 Episode 14

Yes, really. But Showtime is a premium cabler, so it can effectively schedule shows however it pleases.

As for what's about to go down on these series, Shameless Season 10 will pick up following Fiona's exit and will be the first season without Emmy Rossum.

Filling the void are returning series regulars Cameron Monaghan, and Noel Fisher.

The new episodes pick up six months later as “Frank uses his leg injury to collect as many prescription drugs as possible and his exploits lead him to an old friend,” according to the Showtime synopsis.

Frank Returns Home - Shameless Season 9 Episode 13

Debating What to Do - Shameless Season 9 Episode 12

Sounds like an interesting turn of events. Many thought Ian and Mickey would be getting out of jail, but it sounds more like there will be a major storyline set in the prison.

As for Ray Donovan, it picks up with Ray “working to be the man his family needs him to be," per the logline.

"While he makes progress with Dr. Amiot (returning guest star Alan Alda), there are dangers from the past that require the Ray Donovan of old."

"Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti, an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself."

Ray Donovan in a Suit Season 5 Episode 12

"And when Feratti’s corruption brings a piece of Mickey’s past back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions.”

"Jeff creates a new and controversial method to talk directly to children across the world only to become the target of animosity for the first time in his career."

The Gallaghers are getting some new friends during Shameless Season 10!

Deadline is reporting that Rachel Dratch and Anthony Alabi have been added to the cast in recurring roles.

Dratch is on board as Paula, Ian's parole officer, and we think it's fair to say that she's going to do him more harm than good.

Rachel Dratch Attends Wine Country Premiere

The description for the character teases that she uses "her power over him and her other parolees to run an elaborate insurance scam."

Ian made his way to prison early on Shameless Season 9 and based on this casting; it sure sounds like there's a chance he could make his way back to the South Side.

If you watch Shameless online, you know that Ian reunited with Mickey behind bars, but there's no telling whether they will both get out of prison.

Rachel Dratch Attends Opening Celebration

This is Shameless, so anything is really possible, but at least we know we'll need to watch Paula very closely to make sure she doesn't ruin Ian's life.

Dratch is best known for her appearances on Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmit.

Alabi is attached to star as Mavar, a man who steps in to assist Liam as he "explores his racial identity outside of the Gallaghers."

Liam started to question whether living with the Gallaghers was beneficial to him at the tail end of Season 9, and it's clear the plot will be continuing into the tenth season.
