Shameless Season 7 Episode 7 Review: You'll Never Ever Get a Chicken in Your Whole Entire Life

Is Fiona making a bad decision with the laundromat?

It certainly seemed that way on Shameless Season 7 Episode 7 when a lot of issues popped up for her. Maybe she should have had everything checked out before getting Etta to sign on the dotted line.

The most awkward thing about the laundromat was that Etta was yet to cash the check for the place. The poor woman probably had no idea that Fiona was buying it.

The Cost - Shameless

The way Fiona went about getting the place was pretty unethical. Etta should have had someone speaking on her behalf to make sure she was not getting fleeced by Fiona.

I lost a lot of respect for Fiona when she made the decision to dip into the funds at Patsy's. That's not her money to meddle with and I can't believe she felt the need to go full steam ahead and break the law.

Breaking the law got her in jail on Shameless Season 4 and I'm scared Fiona is going to go back off the rails if the laundromat falls through. It definitely seems like there are more negatives than positives right now for Fiona.

It's completely understandable that she wants to make a better life for herself, but she's definitely not going the right way about it. Margo's reveal that she wouldn't be able to succeed probably played a part in her deciding at the conclusion of the hour that she was going ahead with it.

For now, it sure seems like Emmy Rossum's alter ego is going to find herself in trouble, but we'll need to stay tuned to find out just how ugly the whole situation gets for her.

Meanwhile, Debbie has seriously turned into one of the rudest teenagers on television. I just can't get on board with what she's doing to Neil. She's only with him as a matter of convenience and it sucks that she thinks she can push Sierra to the side.

It was obvious Debbie was under a lot of stress, but it didn't mean she had to turn on everyone closest to her. It was only last week that she mended fences with Fiona and now she's most definitely created a bigger divide than ever before. What Debbie needs to understand is that all of her siblings have their own lives and can't drop everything for her.

Somehow, I don't believe she passed the GED, or even took it. She can lie on demand and it was almost like she was telling Fiona what she knew she wanted to hear in order to get what she wanted.

I know Sierra's dealing with some other stuff, but she should be more wary of Debbie's involvement with Neil. Neil is her brother and Debbie's taking him for a ride. I really never thought I'd like Sierra when she first appeared on the show, but she's beginning to be fleshed out and I can't wait to find out more about her.

shameless 7x07

I never thought Lip would be able to have a genuine relationship with someone other than Mandy, but he and Sierra definitely have chemistry. Sierra thought Lip was going to be scared off by her baby daddy drama, but he was there for her when she needed him.

This relationship won't stay casual for much longer. With Debbie and Carl out of the Gallagher home, there's a chance Sierra and Lucas could end up moving in.

Lip has a lot to think about with his upcoming hearing, but he's best to try and make the best of a bad situation. He went crazy on Shameless Season 6, but it's clear he's more grounded in reality now. He just needs to cut the notion that he's better than everyone because he has part of a college education.

Lip really had everything when he was in college, so if he does get back in, he can't screw it up again. It will be the difference whether he manages to move on from his past or not.

"You'll Never Ever Get a Chicken in Your Whole Entire Life" was another solid episode of this Showtime drama. The show is continuing to put out solid episodes after all these years and I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the season.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • Frank helping Liam was not surprising. Liam is the only one who is yet to understand the severity of Frank's actions. Might Frank actually use this as an opportunity to forge a father/son bond with him? It would be a change for Frank, but there's still time for him to change his ways.
  • Svetlana is a crazy person. She absolutely must have murdered Yvon. He was so clear about murdering the family if they tried to get rid of him.
  • It's difficult to care about Ian and Trevor because we know that Mickey is on his way back to the South Side.
  • Can Fiona and V return to being friends? I'm missing their chats about life.

Shameless Season 7 Episode 8 Review: You Sold Me the Laundromat, Remember?

$

Did Fiona go too far?

That was a key question after Shameless Season 7 Episode 8, when it was confirmed that she would go to any length possible to make the laundromat a success.

Etta is an elderly, vulnerable woman, who should really have someone looking after her and taking care of her finances. As much as I don’t like the way Fiona went through with her purchase of the laundromat, I keep thinking it’s going to come back and bite her in the butt.

Getting Reinstated - Shameless

Hopefully it’s not the case of one of Etta’s distant relatives showing up or something along those lines. That would be predictable on so many levels. Frank showing up and trying to get his foot in the door backed up the fact he is nothing more than a vile opportunist. The only reason he tried to improve the Gallagher household was in the hopes that his family would take pity on him.

Unfortunately, they can’t just erase the hatred they have for the man who brought them into the world. He doesn’t deserve one bit of respect from them. Fiona raised all of her siblings. Frank wouldn’t know how to raise a kid. He’s always bailed in the past. That’s sort of what deadbeat fathers do. I absolutely loved just how brutally honest Ian and Trevor were with him.

As much as everyone hates Frank, he always finds a way to get by, and I don’t think I can stand another storyline that involves him manipulating someone to get what he wants. It’s so tiring watching him move from one opportunity to another. It’s time for the family to find a way to get rid of him for good.

Fiona is going to be in for quite the headache if he moves in with Etta. Frank will definitely find out about Fiona using the credit card and will use the knowledge to bribe his daughter to let him stay put.

One of Frank’s offspring who has definitely learned one of his traits is Debbie. She only moved in with Neil to have a home for herself and Frannie. Do we honestly think if Derek offered to take her back, she would say no? She seemed way too interested in hearing about him when she should have been talking about Frannie.

One of the major flaws with Debbie’s storyline was that she didn’t threaten to call the cops when Tanya and Derek’s mother took the baby. I understand that her maternal instincts kicked in and she went completely crazy at the window.

I mean, Tanya filming her meltdown wouldn’t hold any water because they were the ones who were holding the baby. Last time I checked, Debbie was still the registered guardian.

I guess their defense will be that Neil was not a fit enough person to look after Frannie. The sooner this storyline ends, the better. For a while, it really seemed like Debbie and Fiona were getting closer together again, but all of that went up in flames over Debbie acting like a selfish brat.

She knew Fiona was busy, and just kept bugging her about saying she was working there. Debbie needs to learn that patience is a virtue and stop expecting everyone to drop everything for her. Not everyone can just drop their life to help her out.

Elsewhere, I’m beginning to think Kevin, Veronica and Svetlana could be heading for a break up. I think the three of them became a thing a little too quickly and now that the honeymoon period is over, there are going to be some fireworks. Svetlana absolutely should have consulted with Kevin before hiding the tittie van for one of her insurance scams.

She shouldn’t be just making decisions for herself. That’s not how relationships work. I loved when Kevin offered everyone in the Alibi Room free drinks if they helped Fiona. Veronica’s reaction was to go on the offensive for not keeping her in the loop, but Kevin made it perfectly clear that he hasn’t been kept in the loop about things.

This gave Veronica some food for thought. It might seem like things are okay for now, but expect more drama from this plot.

"You Sold Me The Laundromat, Remember?" was the weakest episode of the season. A lot of the characters were doing questionable things and made me dislike some of them.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • I really don’t care for Lip’s storyline. He comes across as an entitled ass and that’s why he’s going to struggle to move on from all of the drama that came after his hearing. Sierra would be wise to cut her losses with him.
  • Etta claiming that the Chinese woman stole her credit card was hilarious. I was so sure Fiona was going to smack the woman.
  • I’m still not getting on board with Trevor and Ian. Mickey will be back soon. The Gallagher house feels pretty empty. Is it time for some new characters?

Shameless Season 7 Episode 9 Review: Ouroboros

There's always carnage when Hurricane Monica is in town.

That sentiment echoed on through Shameless Season 7 Episode 9 in an hour that proved this hit Showtime series is showing zero sign of slowing the drama down.

Absolutely no one wanted anything to do with Monica when she showed up. The drama she causes tends to have ripple effects that continue on for some time after she inevitably disappears again.

Getting Franny Back - Shameless

This time is very different. After a life of struggling with bipolar and not being the best mother to her children, it's becoming very clear that we're about to lose her for good.

Her pursuit of Frank seemed pathetic at first. That's all she seems to do. Show up unannounced and expect everyone to welcome her with open arms.

You have to take a step back and think about the ramifications her actions have had on the lives of her children. The Gallagher kids really have the worst parents on the planet, and I'm glad Sierra clocked on to that when she extended the olive branch to Lip.

We'll come back to that in a little.

Monica is back in town purely to try and right her wrongs in her final days alive. We witnessed Frank trying to ditch her several times, but then he collapsed in her arms when he found out she was dying.

He always did say Monica was the love of his life. There's obviously a lot of history between the pair, and of course, many, many children. It's definitely intriguing to think of how the family will come together to bid adieu to the mother who was never there.

Regardless of what everyone thinks of her, they will unite in her death... at least temporarily.

Even though she was dying, she still had that Monica sense of humor we all know and love. Trashing Derek's house was one of her best scenes of the entire series.

I loved how she started reading out all the laws to the people who stole Frannie. For now, Frannie is very much back with Debbie. I'm glad the storyline was not dragged out any longer.

After two seasons of rebelling against everything and anything, it finally seems like Debbie is about to calm down and support Frannie. Working with Fiona is not going to be the most pleasant working environment.

Both sisters have clashed a little too much for everything to be smoothed over, but at least Fiona gave her a chance. Fiona has been hard on her, but it sure seems like it's about to pay off.

Back to the Sierra and Lip situation. Lip is a ticking time bomb. He's about to go off the deep end at any moment and getting him back on the straight and narrow is not going to be an easy task.

Sierra cutting him some slack because of the way his mother is was pretty mature. She understood there was a method to his madness, but she also knows she can't be with him.

Like Sierra pointed out, she is not someone to be there as a support system. I mean, it's nice of Lip to want to be with her, but he's not the best person to be getting in a relationship with right now.

Maybe in a year, or two. Lip needs more help, or I'm scared of what might become of him.

Elsewhere, Mickey escaped from jail, but we didn't get to see anything from him. He's on the run, and I'm guessing we'll get to meet him on Shameless Season 7 Episode 10

It sucks for Trevor to be stuck in the middle of Gallovich, but I'm certain he won't be sticking around for much longer now that Mickey is back on the scene.

"Ouroboros" was up there as one of the best episodes of the entire series. There was so much to like about the hour. It sent the show in an interesting direction as we approach what could be the conclusion of the series. You guys, Shameless has NOT been renewed yet!

Ratings are down, but that can possibly be attributed to the change in premiere date. It's still one of Showtime's highest rated series, but there are rumblings that Emmy Rossum and Cameron Monaghan are ready to say goodbye.

The show could go on without them. The U.K. version lost Fiona early on and continued for several years.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • Everything with Etta was just great. I can't wait until she figures out Frank is just using her for money and a warm place to sleep.
  • Fiona going after the Yelp reviewer was way too far, but it was hilarious to watch it all play out.
  • I can't get on board with Debbie kicking Sierra out. Sierra rolled over a little too quickly. It's a tricky situation, but she should have put up more of a fight.
  • With Monica about to die, we can probably expect Carl to show up for her funeral.
  • Svetlana taking the Alibi Room was not the most shocking development. Could this spell the end for the throuple?

How did the family react to the return of Monica?

That was addressed on Shameless Season 7 Episode 9 when the mother showed back up on the South Side to help Debbie get Frannie back after Derek's family kidnapped her.

Meanwhile on this hit drama series, Lip tried to mask the fact that he had relapsed back into his old ways.

Also, Fiona's laundromat got a bad review and it forced her to change some things around the shop.

Shameless Season 7 Episode 10 Review: Ride or Die

MICKEY IS BACK!

After what seems like an eternity, Mickey Milkovich made his triumphant return on Shameless Season 7 Episode 10, but it was pretty darn obvious things were not going to easily return to the way they were for him and Ian.

When you think about it, Ian's life has been very different without Mickey. As Fiona pointed out, it's been better. Ian has a career and a purpose in life, but going on the lam with Mickey will not do much for his long-term aspirations.

On the Run - Shameless

"Ride or Die" was an apt title for this episode of the Showtime hit. If you've watched the show over the past seven years, you probably already knew that Mickey was Ian's ride or die.

Ian genuinely went back and forth before making his decision about whether to leave for Mexico with Mickey. I mean, we all like when characters get to where we want them, but somehow, I don't think we've seen the last of them yet.

Mickey being on the run paved the way for us to find out the specifics of how he managed to make it on the outside. With the increased police activity on the South Side, he made sure to have some minions to help him get to Ian.

I'm conflicted about whether Mickey should have reached out to Ian. I get that he loves him, but did he really think it would be a good idea to go on the run with the love of his life?

He could have sucked it up and let Ian resume his life with at least a little bit of normalcy. Mickey knows very well that he can never return to the South Side. Unless of course, he wants to wind up back in prison.

I would love to say I'm thrilled about the return of Mickey, but I just wish it was under better circumstances.

With that in mind, I cheered when Mickey got rid of the hat and the long hair. Noel Fisher did not suit that look in the slightest. I refused to believe that was Mickey until that point.

Ian was not the only Gallagher who faced a tough decision. Fiona literally put her all into the laundromat, so it's perfectly understandable that she would be apprehensive about selling it.

The South Side is slowly, but surely, being overrun by the richer folk who live there, and that's going to mean bad things for the people who struggle to make ends meet.

Margo's offer was one that Fiona could not refuse. Fiona paid $80,000 for the laundromat so earning double that would be an amazing amount of money.

What seemed like pocket change to Margo, would be life altering for Fiona. I completely understand Fiona wanting to stick by Etta, but she isn't really Fiona's responsibility.

It would be great if there was a situation in which both of them came out of the other end, but unless Fiona lets Etta move in with her, it's going to be a tough decision.

Fiona definitely feels like she owes it to Etta to make sure her wishes are granted, but not everyone gets a happy ending in life. Etta is struggling to support herself.

Assisted living would not be a bad move for her, but it will all come down to Fiona's loyalty, and her decision will definitely have some severe ramifications for her character going forward.

"Ride or Die" was another solid episode of this Showtime drama. All of the characters are moving in interesting directions, and it's exciting to think about what the future hold for them.

Stray thoughts:

  • Svetlana needs to go. I've been super vocal about how much I love her as a character, but she went too far by fooling her partners and stealing. A solid relationship is most certainly not built on lies.
  • Fiona showing up at V's with the coffee was a long time coming. Svetlana being in V's ear contributed to the friendship coming to an end in the first place. Now, things will start returning to normal for the pair.
  • Frank and Monica are TV gold. Every scene they are in together is just hilarious. It's scary to imagine what Frank will be like when Monica dies. Might this be the thing that brings the family closer together than ever before?
  • Poor Trevor. No one comes between Gallavich.
  • Lip showing up at Helene's house was horrid. He is turning into his father and I hope he finds a way to help himself soon, or we could be losing him. As much as he comes across as an entitled ass, the Gallagher family needs to stick together now more than ever.
  • Debbie should NOT have let Monica and Frank in the house at all. It's not going to help in her quest to keep the DCFS at bay.
